Our client a well-established family business is looking to recruit an experienced Finance and Payroll Manager to join their friendly team. The suitable candidate will be responsible for the effective management of the company's day-to-day financial administration, accounting processes and office operations.
Working closely with the Directors and the Senior Management Team you will take ownership of accounting processes and provide leadership and guidance to the supporting administrator
Key Tasks
Financial Management & Accounting
- Maintain overall responsibility for the company's accounting systems and financial records.
- Undertake purchase ledger and sales ledger functions.
- Produce and issue sales invoices and verify self-billing invoices
- Monitor debtor balances and undertake credit control activities where required.
- Manage supplier payments and maintain positive supplier relationships.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile key balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Maintain fixed asset and financial records where applicable.
- Process journals, accruals and prepayments as required.
Management Reporting & Business Support
- Prepare monthly management accounts and P&L as required.
- Provide financial analysis and performance information to Directors and the Senior Management Team.
- Assist with annual budgets and periodic forecasting activities.
- Support cashflow monitoring and reporting.
- Identify financial trends, variances and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required.
Payroll Administration
- Manage payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely payment of employees.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension and statutory payroll requirements.
- Maintain payroll records and liaise with external providers where applicable.
Financial Controls & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
- Maintain appropriate financial controls and procedures.
- Support year-end accounting processes and liaise with external accountants and auditors.
- Ensure timely payment of taxes, pensions and other statutory obligations.
Office Administration & Operational Support
- Support Directors and the Senior Management Team with administrative and operational requirements and maintain petty cash records and reconciliations.
Continuous Improvement
- Review and improve accounting and administrative processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology, automation and improved procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- AAT qualified, part-qualified accountant or equivalent relevant experience.
- Significant experience in accounting, finance or bookkeeping roles.
- Strong understanding of management accounts, reconciliations, VAT and payroll processes.
- Experience using accounting software packages.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to analyse financial information and present findings clearly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Mon- Fri – 37.5 Hours
Salary £36k - £42k dependent upon experience
